Mackey is a self-taught artist who works mainly in acrylic and pastel. Her work is informed by her immediate surroundings, mainly her experiences in Salt Spring Island, Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia. She is currently represented by The Duthie Gallery on Salt Spring Island.
